Installation
Get automateSEO running on your WordPress site in under 2 minutes. No configuration required to start seeing results.
automateSEO requires WordPress 6.0 or higher and PHP 7.4 or higher. It is compatible with all major themes and page builders.
Installing from WordPress.org
Go to Plugins in your WordPress admin
From your WordPress dashboard navigate to Plugins → Add New Plugin.
Search for automateSEO
Type "automateSEO" in the search box. The plugin will appear in the results.
Click Install Now then Activate
Click Install Now, wait for the installation to complete, then click Activate.
You're ready
You'll see AI SEO appear in your WordPress sidebar. Click it to open your SEO dashboard.
Installing via ZIP upload
If you downloaded the plugin ZIP file directly:
- Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin
- Click Choose File and select the automateSEO ZIP
- Click Install Now then Activate Plugin
If you have Yoast SEO, Rank Math or All in One SEO installed, deactivate them first. Running multiple SEO plugins causes duplicate meta tags which can hurt your rankings.
Quick Start Guide
Once installed, here’s how to get immediate value from automateSEO:
Run your first SEO scan
Go to AI SEO → Dashboard and click Run SEO Scan. The plugin will scan every published page and post, giving each one a score from 0–100.
Review your scores
Look at the results table. Red scores (0–49) need urgent attention. Yellow (50–79) needs improvement. Green (80–100) is good.
Fix your worst-scoring pages first
Click on a low-scoring page title to open it in the editor. Scroll down to the automateSEO meta box below the content editor.
Set a focus keyword and fix issues
Go to the Focus Keyword tab and set a target keyword. Then check the SEO Analysis tab for specific problems and the Readability tab for content issues.
Submit your sitemap to Google
Your sitemap is automatically generated at yoursite.com/ai-seo-sitemap.xml. Submit it in Google Search Console to get indexed faster.
Activating Pro
After purchasing a Pro licence you’ll receive a licence key by email. Here’s how to activate it:
Go to AI SEO → Settings
In your WordPress admin sidebar click AI SEO then Settings.
Enter your licence key
Paste your licence key into the licence key field at the top of the Settings page.
Enter your licence key
Click the Activate Licence button. You should see ⚡ PRO ACTIVE appear immediately.
Add your AI provider API key
Choose your AI provider (Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini) and paste your API key in the field below. The AI Fix Engine will then be active.
Don't have an API key yet? All three providers offer free credits when you sign up. Gemini (Google) has the most generous free tier.
SEO Audit Engine
The SEO Audit Engine scans every published page and post on your site and gives each one a score from 0 to 100. It checks 7 key factors:
- Title length — checks if your SEO title is between 30 and 60 characters
- Meta description — checks if a meta description exists and is the right length
- H1 heading — ensures only one H1 exists in the content
- Image alt tags — checks that all images have descriptive alt text
- Content length — flags pages with fewer than 300 words
- Internal links — checks that the page links to other pages on your site
- Focus keyword — if set, checks keyword placement across the page
Meta Tag Editor
The Meta Tag Editor appears as a panel below the content editor on every post and page. It has 5 tabs:
General tab
Set your SEO title and meta description. Includes a character counter and a live Google search preview that switches between desktop and mobile view.
Focus Keyword tab
Set your target keyword. The analysis updates live as you type — no save needed.
SEO Analysis tab
Full 13-point SEO checklist showing exactly which checks pass and fail for this page.
Readability tab
7-point readability analysis with a score and grade. Pro users see the AI Fix Content button here.
Schema tab
Choose the schema type for this page (WebPage, Article, BlogPosting, FAQPage etc.).
Social tab
Set a custom title and description for social sharing. Live preview shows how the page will look on Facebook and WhatsApp.
XML Sitemap
automateSEO automatically generates an XML sitemap at:
https://yoursite.com/ai-seo-sitemap.xml
The sitemap includes all published posts, pages and category archives with correct priority and change frequency values. It updates automatically when you publish, update or delete content.
To submit your sitemap to Google, go to Google Search Console → Sitemaps and enter your sitemap URL.
AI Fix Engine Pro
The AI Fix Engine appears as a button next to each page in your SEO dashboard. Click it to have AI automatically generate an optimised meta title, meta description and content suggestions for that page.
The AI reads your current page content, any detected SEO issues and your focus keyword, then returns three things:
- An optimised SEO title (30–60 characters, includes your focus keyword)
- An optimised meta description (50–160 characters, compelling and keyword-rich)
- Three specific content suggestions to improve the page
The generated title and description are saved automatically to the page’s meta fields.
AI Content Fixer Pro
The AI Content Fixer rewrites your full page content to fix readability issues. Find it in the Readability tab of the post editor meta box.
It fixes:
- Passive voice sentences → rewritten to active voice
- Sentences over 20 words → shortened and restructured
- Consecutive sentences starting with the same word → varied
- Missing transition words → added naturally
- Focus keyword density → adjusted to the 1–2% ideal range
The AI Content Fixer always shows a before/after side-by-side preview before saving. Nothing changes until you click Approve. Your original content is also backed up automatically before any change is applied.
SEO Autopilot Pro
SEO Autopilot runs on a schedule and automatically fixes low-scoring pages across your entire site. Enable it from the AI SEO Dashboard.
When a scheduled run happens:
- The plugin scans all published pages and posts
- Any page scoring below 60/100 is queued for AI fixing
- AI generates optimised meta titles and descriptions for each
- Fixes are saved automatically
- You receive an email report showing what was changed
You can also click Run Now to trigger a manual autopilot run at any time.
FAQ
Will it slow down my site?
No. The plugin only loads scripts on admin pages. Nothing is loaded on the frontend except the meta tags and schema markup in the page head.
Does it work with WooCommerce?
Yes. It audits WooCommerce product pages and works with standard WooCommerce themes.
Can I import my settings from Yoast?
A Yoast importer is on the roadmap. For now, meta titles and descriptions need to be re-entered. Your content is unaffected.
Which AI provider is best for SEO?
All three work well. Claude (Anthropic) tends to produce the most natural-sounding content. Gemini has the best free tier for getting started.
